Ross Racing B58TU Valve Cover Check Valve Inserts

Ross Racing B58TU Valve Cover Check Valve Inserts

***If you select the Oil Cap Breather combo option, it will be the Oil Cap Breather w/ Check Valve & Filter setup!***

***Once the Check Valve Inserts have been installed, IT IS REQUIRED to VTA from the valve cover highside PCV port! If you run a sealed OCC/AOS or leave it connected to the intake, your car will smoke! This is why I have the option for the Valve Cover Highside PCV Port VTA Kit which will include my adapter fitting, AN10 Filter & Rubber cap to cap off the OEM PCV hose on the intake's lower inlet pipe!***

Introducing the new Ross Racing B58TU Valve Cover Check Valve Inserts (CVIs)!

Now the question you'll ask is how these work and the answer is very simple!

Unlike Block Off Pins and Headport Taps which delete the PCV completely by completely closing off the headports, my CVIs (Check Valve Inserts) do more! My CVIs are spring and check ball loaded and will be open during idle by vacuum. What this means is that during idle, there will still be vacuum in the crankcase. Under boost is a different story. Once boost tries to get past the check valve setup, it will force the valve/ball shut which will prevent any boost from entering the crankcase. In layman's terms, stock PCV during idle with vacuum in the crankcase but under boost the PCV will be deleted! Best of both worlds! Block Off Pins are a lazy design in comparison!

I'm not the first to do this but I designed mine to be more unique and IMO, the better design vs the others. I've designed mine to be pressed in like the others but mine is also fully removable. To keep it in place mine uses custom FKM (Viton) O'Rings and there will also but a small hole on the sides in which you can use a pick tool to remove them if needed. On the TU valve cover ports the middle port is also shorter than the two outer ones so I also added adapters to help keep everything flush once fully inserted. The outside adapters will be labeled "L/R" meaning "Left or Right" port and the middle Adapter will be labeled "M" meaning "Middle" port. Very simple install! Just make sure that with the valve cover upside down to inserts the CVIs, the logo and labels on the parts should be rightside up (readable to you) when inserting them.

If it's a new valve cover then lubing the orings will help but if it's a used valve cover, lubing the orings will not be as necessary.

With this modification, this is when you NEED to vent from the valve cover as much as possible and you can no longer run a sealed Catch Can. OCC needs to be VTA! Running a sealed OCC will restrict venting of excess crankcase pressures and this will/can cause smoking and/or excessive blowby. Remember, pressure burst pipes so give your motor as much avenues for venting as possible!

If you haven't already, this would also be the perfect time to add my Oil Cap Breather w/ check-valve for even more venting under boost! Since you will still have vacuum in your crankcase, running an open style oil cap is NOT recommended as your motor may suck in a lot of unmetered air which can create a vacuum leak. Don't sell yourself or your motor short by running other oil cap breathers with their LAZY design!

DISCLAIMER

For OFF-ROAD use ONLY! ALL Ross Racing Products are intended for OFF-ROAD use ONLY! Also please keep in mind that when you delete the PCV, it could cause your car to smoke more on idle or hard acceleration. While this is not common and most cars will NOT smoke, it is a possibility. This is minimized with the check-valve inserts since it allows vacuum in the crankcase at idle but it is still not fully guarenteed that you may not see some kind of smoke out of your exhaust when you modify the PCV system. Regardless, confirm that your car is not smoking or burning oil for any other reason but if neither are the case then there is nothing negative to worry about.
