Introducing the Ross Racing B58TU (Gen2) Catch Can Kit!
This OCC kit will incorporate our tried-and-true Competition Catch Can which when compared to the other available options, our OCC is the best and it's not even close! Unlike the other OCCs on the market, our OCC is double baffled on the input and has a block-off shield on the output side to prevent oil from spraying in your engine bay for whatever reason! Our Competition Catch Cans also incorporate AN10 ports on the input and output ports and has been proven to vent exceptionally well even beyond 40psi! (Confirmed via Gen1 cars running our Billet Valve Covers & Competition OCC combo)! This is also time to introduce our new squared Competition Catch Can which will be the same .5L capacity and incorporate the same baffle design as well as the block-off shield! New Look with the same performance!
With the stock PCV or w/ using our Check Valve Inserts, there will be little to no smell during idle but with the PCV deleted, there may be some. With this in mind, we have the option to run a banjo vent/dump hose from our OCC's output port under the car so the fumes will not make it into the cabin w/ the windows up and air on.
For B58 G2X, G42, & A9X cars running a stock intake w/ the intake silencer, we also have the option to supply a silencer delete cap as our OCC kit will not fit with the silencer. You may also need to slightly bend the heatshield outward so that it does not touch the OCC. G01/G02 cars will be able to run our OCC kit w/ the silencer but G30 cars will also need to remove the silencer. Unfortunately we do not have a silencer delete cap for the G30 cars.
The OEM PCV hose will need to be removed, usually be heating and pulling off of the OEM connector on the lower inlet pipe. We will supply a 3/4" rubber cap that you will use to cap that now open port.
What separates this kit from the other options on the market is how we have integrated everything to work with the current system. What we have seen is that other companies are marketing their catch can kit for stock PCV cars but their Oil Cap Breathers are not baffled and don't even incorporate a check valve that stays closed during idle! This is a big design flaw and can lead to issues such as vacuum leaks. The reason for this is that the oil cap area was not originally designed to VTA, especially during idle. With the stock PCV, there will be vacuum in the crankcase and if you run an open style oil cap, your car can and will pull in a lot of unmetered air. This can cause a rough idle and in some instances, it can even cause the car to smoke like a failed PCV. With our Oil Cap Breathers, we thought ahead and designed our oil caps to be baffled while also incorporating a check valve banjo that will be closed at idle to prevent any unmetered air from entering the crankcase but fully open under boost to allow excess crankcase pressures out!
This gets us to the next part that makes our setup clearly better than the others. Ross Racing has designed a first of its kind AN10 to AN10 PCV/Check Valve Banjo fitting that will be exclusive to our kit. As mentioned above, this banjo will be closed during idle to ensure no vacuum leak or unnecessary oil being pushed but opened under boost to allow the crankcase pressures to be vented!
What about cars that have the PCV deleted?? Venting will not be affected as even though there is no longer vacuum in the crankcase, venting from the highside port on the valve cover during idle will be more than adequate and under boost you will vent from the highside port as well as our Oil Cap! We thought about this setup and designed something that would work for everyone with ZERO drawbacks!
The next question some may be asking is, why don't we vent from the lower CCV port like other companies?? Simply put, we designed a setup to solve issues, not create new ones.. The lower CCV port is NOT meant to VTA!! If you check the OEM lower CCV hose, you'll notice that it has a one-way check valve. That check valve is designed to allow air in but prevent anything from going out. With trying to vent from the lower CCV, all you've done is now turn an input port into an output port that will serve no benefit for "extra venting." It will instead be an area for oil to be pushed and with a poorly baffled OCC, when it pushes oil, that oil will end up spraying all over your engine bay. I see a lot of companies and people doing this and I can't understand why because it makes absolutely ZERO sense. Maybe they just want to run unnecessary hoses because it looks cool to them.
