Introducing the B58 Aluminum Coolant Pipe Upgrade, part# 11118619408 for BMW 40i vehicles with the Gen1 B58 engine. It will include the O-Ring just like the OEM piece which will make it much easier to install! Since this part is made of cast aluminum vs plastic (like the OEM pipe), it should outlast the car and never need to be replaced again.
 
As mentioned above, this product is cast from aluminum which will be much more durable than the OEM plastic which over time will start to fail due to damage caused by Hydrolysis.
 
For those not familiar with the term, Hydrolysis damage refers to the breakdown of a material caused by a chemical reaction with water (Coolant). This process can cause the material to crack, crumble, or even detach, leading to a loss of strength and functionality. This is also why when the coolant pipe fails, it is usually because of the pipe cracking while the O-Ring will be still good.
 
With the O-Ring supplied, while it is not OEM, it should still be comparable to OEM quality. If you see a white powder substance on the O-Ring, please do not be alarmed as this is normal and referred to as rubber bloom. with rubber bloom, surface additives migrate to the surface of the rubber. This bloom is typically a white, powdery substance and is generally not harmful or a sign of a defect. It may affect the appearance but not the functionality of the O-Ring. 
 
For best results, when installing, clean the engine block mating surface and lubricate any and all O-Rings to create a proper seal. 
 
It is also recommended to replace 17128616548 as the plastic connectors could be degraded from Hydrolysis damage just like this part.
 
*Slight blemishes will not affect the ability to properly seal. Please remember these units are cast and slight surface imperfections are to be expected.*
